Make THE BEST classic burger sauce at home with this 4 ingredient recipe that's low carb and easy to make in only 5 minutes! This "secret sauce" is perfect for topping burgers, bowls and more.

If you like the sauce on big macs, or the special sauce on the hamburgers at In-N-Out, or basically any good burger sauce at restaurants, you need this recipe in your life!

While every version of secret sauce varies a little, they all seem to have that similar sweetness, tang and bite, which you will also find in this recipe.

But the BEST burger sauce recipe is also healthier for you! By skipping out on the added sugars you can enjoy all the best flavors without extra carbs.

That's right, there is less than half of a gram of carbohydrates per serving in this sauce recipe!

Drizzle it all over a protein style burger, a burger bowl, or burger salad. But don't stop there, use it as a dip for all your favorite snacks, like raw veggies, roasted veggies or french fries!

    ingredients for burger sauce

    Ingredients

This recipe only requires 4 ingredients. If you're making the recipe keto, as shown in this post, you'll want to purchase ingredients with low to zero carbs and no added sugar.

    • Unsweetened ketchup - choosing a ketchup without sugar is crucial to keeping this recipe keto. There are many options available at most grocery stores these days, if your local store doesn't have it, you can check a health food store or online.
    • Dijon mustard - this gives the perfect bite to the sauce. Make sure to choose a creamy dijon and not whole grain to keep the consistency of the sauce smooth.
    • Mayonnaise - again, make sure to read the label to ensure there are no extra ingredients that don't fit in with your diet.
    • Pickles - finely chopping up your own pickles is way better than using sweet pickle relish with added sugar! Make sure to choose dill pickles and not bread and butter or sweet pickles.

    Instructions

    1. Combine all of the ingredients in a medium bowl.

That's it, one step and you're done!

Once you've made the sauce, taste it and if you feel like it needs added salt, mix in ¼ teaspoon salt. I found that the pickles were salty enough, I didn't add any salt to the recipe.

Store the sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

    Tips and tricks

    • If you don't want to use mayo, you can substitute in Greek yogurt. The texture and flavor will just be slightly different.
    • To spice it up, feel free to add in 1 teaspoon of hot sauce. Most hot sauces contain zero carbs, making it a keto-friendly addition to the sauce!
    • Make it extra tangy by mixing in a little extra pickle juice. Just make sure not to add too much, or the sauce will be too thin.
    • Dill pickle relish can be used in place of the pickles. Double check the ingredients for added sugars! Sweet relish will change the flavor and contains sugar.
    • Allow the secret sauce to rest for the flavors to meld. You can eat it right away, but letting it chill in the fridge for at least an hour makes it even better!
    • Experiment with added flavors and stir in some paprika, dill, onion powder, garlic powder, pepper, horseradish, diced cucumber, or red onion.

    Ways to use the sauce

    • Drizzled on a Keto Burger Bowl (pictured above)
    • As a topping on a burger or Cheeseburger Sliders.
    • As a dip for french fries or onion rings, it's even great with Sweet Potato Fries!
    • As a dip for fresh veggies like broccoli, carrots, celery, cucumbers, or peppers.
    • With these amazing Cheeseburger Egg Rolls.
    • Drizzle it over roasted veggies or Air Fryer Zucchini.
    • Drizzle it over eggs for breakfast.
    • As a topping for baked potatoes or roasted Sweet Potatoes.
    • Use it as a dressing for salads, try it with romaine lettuce, chicken, tomato, avocado, and onions.
    • Spread on your favorite sandwiches for an added burst of flavor.
